Post previews are blank in the chat or/and in the editor
Sometimes, your generated posts may appear as a blank page without any content whatsoever - no text, no images, no videos. But don't worry - in reality, they are normal posts that you can share to social, it's just the preview that's missing. This is often caused by something in the browser where you are accessing Alkai, and in most cases, the culprit would be VPN or ad blocking software. This article goes over disabling those and restoring the preview functionality.
Disable your ad blocker
While some ad blocking extensions allow for halting their functions for particular web addresses, this article describes how to disable the ad blocker altogether.
Chrome:
- Open Chrome.
- Select More - More tools - Extensions.
- Turn off the extension you want to disable (in this case, it would be your ad blocker).
Mozilla Firefox:
- Click the menu button , click Extensions and themes, then select Extensions.
- The Add-ons Manager Manage Your Extensions page will open in a new tab.
- Scroll through the list of extensions.
- Click the blue toggle for the extension you wish to disable (your ad blocker).
Safari:
- Go to Safari > Settings (or Preferences) in the menu bar
- Click Extensions
- Deselect the checkbox next to the extension you want to turn off (yor ad blocking software)
Turn off your VPN
If you are accessing your web pages through a VPN service, this might affect the post preview loading as well.
If your VPN is provided through a browser extension, please follow the steps described above and disable the VPN extension instead of the ad blocker one.
If, on the other hand, your VPN is system-wide, here is how to turn it off in different operating systems:
Microsoft Windows:
- Open Settings
- Go to Network & Internet
- Select VPN from the left-hand menu
- Click on the VPN connection you wish to disable
- Select Disconnect to turn the VPN connection off temporarily.
MacOS:
- Click on Apple menu
- Select System Settings
- Click VPN in the sidebar next to the VPN service you want to remove (you might need to scroll down to find it)
- Click Remove Configuration, then confirm you want to remove it.
Android:
- Open your phone's Settings
- Tap on Network & internet (or similar, depending on your phone's manufacturer)
- Select VPN
- Tap the connected VPN profile and choose Disconnect
If you don't see such an option, use the search bar within the Settings app to find "VPN" directly.
iOS:
- Open Settings.
- Select General.
- Scroll down and tap on 'VPN & Device Management'.
- Then tap on 'VPN'.
- Under Device VPN, tap on the lowercase 'i' for the VPN you wish to remove.
- Tap on 'Delete VPN'.
- Confirm 'Delete' on the warning pop up.
If the above doesn't fix the issue, please contact our support team in the support chat or at alkai-feedback@alkai.ai.
