Currently, the Alkai AI app is capable of linking to a Facebook Page and Instagram Business. To connect these social media accounts to Alkai, please follow these steps:
- In Alkai, navigate to the "Settings" tab at the bottom of the screen
- Under "Social Network Accounts", you will see the options to connect a Facebook Page and an Instagram account - select the + button next to either of those to proceed
- At this moment, Facebook will open (depending on the device that you access Alkai from, Facebook should open either in the browser or in the Facebook app). If you are not logged into Facebook yet, you will be prompted to enter your Facebook credentials first. If you are logged into Facebook already, you will instead see "You have previously logged in to Ripl with Facebook. Would you like to continue?" - in this case, select "Continue as [your name]" if you are willing to proceed with this account or "Cancel" if you want to select another account.
- Once you select "Continue as [your name]", you will be taken back to the Alkai app and you will see a prompt "Is this you?" and your name grabbed from the linked Facebook account. If correct, click "Yes, that's me".
- Once done, you will see a list of the Facebook Pages available for connection. If the needed Facebook Page is not on the list for any reason, please see the Questions and Answers section below to try and resolve that.
- To connect an Instagram account, please click on the corresponding button and perform steps 3-5 in regard to Instagram.
Questions and Answers:
Q: I want to connect multiple Facebook Pages and/or Instagram accounts at once, but am unable to do so - why is this?
A: Currently, Alkai can link to a single Facebook Page and to a single Instagram account at a time. Attempting to link another account will disconnect the previously connected one.
Q: Why can't I share to Facebook Personal although I have connected it to Alkai?
A: At this time, Facebook Personal is connected to solely serve as a bridge between Alkai and Facebook, so that Alkai would be able to connect to the Meta-owned entities such as Facebook Pages and Instagram accounts. As such, posting to your Facebook Personal feed is not possible now, and Facebook Personal will not show up as a sharing option.
Q: How can I disconnect the accounts that I have linked to Alkai?
A: At the moment, there is no way to clear the connection as a whole - once you link your social media accounts to Alkai, it will retain connection at all times. You can however switch to a different Facebook Page or/and to a different Instagram account if you've got more than one of those.
Q: In process of connection to Facebook, I noticed that it says "Ripl" instead of "Alkai" (e.g. "You have previously logged in to Ripl with Facebook" as stated in the FAQ article) - why does this happen and is my personal data safe with Alkai AI?
A: The Alkai AI app is being developed by the same team that delivered the Ripl app - although these are separate apps that do not communicate with each other, we utilize the Ripl app's API to establish connection between Alkai and Facebook. This is expected and intended, and the security of your personal data is guaranteed and regulated by the GDPR conditions.
Q: I have connected my Facebook Personal account, however I can't see the needed Facebook Page on the list - what can I do?
A: Alkai can only connect to those Facebook Pages that your Facebook Personal account is the admin of. As such, if you are not sure that the missing Page is managed by you, please double-check that by following the steps from this article. If you are not an Admin of the needed Page, you'll want to ask the owner of the Page to grant you that role.
Q: Why can't I see my Instagram Business account on the list?
A: If your Instagram Business account is not appearing in Alkai, please take a look at this article to make sure that your account meets all requirements to be recognized by the app.
Q: I want to connect a different Facebook account to Alkai. How can I do it?
A: As Alkai grabs your Facebook login credentials from wherever you are logged into Facebook (your Internet browser or the Facebook app on mobile devices), you'll want to switch to a different account on Facebook first. To do so on your computer, please access facebook.com, click on your profile picture in the upper right corner of the screen, then "Log out" and enter your new Facebook account credentials. In the Facebook app on a mobile device, tap on the three lines icon in the bottom right of Facebook, scroll to the bottom and select "Log out", then enter your new Facebook login credentials. Once done, return to Alkai and select to connect a new Facebook Page (or click on the reverse arrows icon next to your connected Facebook Page) - at this point, Alkai should recognize the change and show the Facebook Pages that are linked to the newly introduced Facebook account.
