Editing a post in Alkai is simple and powerful, giving you the tools to customize layouts, colors, fonts, media, and more. Whether you’re refining text or adding a personal touch with a brand card, here’s how you can edit your posts and make them perfect before sharing.

Opening the Editor
Find the post you want to Edit from the Plan or in the Chat.

Edit Post
When creating content with Alkai, you always get the final say. When you preview a post, you have several tools available to make quick changes or edits and still maintain a professional quality.
- Click the SHARE button once all your edits have been made and you're ready to complete and share your post.
- The PREV and NEXT buttons allow you to quickly try on different layouts for the post. The text and media will not change.
- Editing Tools, Alkai provides easy-to-use tools to modify and adjust your post before you complete it.
Layouts
Quick Change Layout
Use the PREV and NEXT button on the side of the post preview to try on different layouts and animations.
View All Layouts
- Click the Layouts icon in the edit menu to reveal the library of layouts.
- Select a layout to instantly apply it to your post.
- Click APPLY to return to the full preview
Colors
Add vibrancy to your posts with customizable color palettes.
When you click Colors, a tray will appear. All Alkai posts use color palettes of 4 complimentary colors. Alkai has a library of palettes for you to use or try on for your post. You also have the ability to define your own or modify the out-of-box palettes.
- Button to Add a color palette to define your own.
- Scrollable list of color palettes to try-on and use in your post with a box around the palette that is currently being used for the post.
- The currently selected color palette, use the pencil icon to edit the colors.
- A heart icon to favorite or un-favorite the palette, all favorite palettes are sorted first if the scrollable list to make the easy to find for future posts.
Select a Color Palette
Scroll left and right along the tray to view all the available color palettes for your post. If you provided your business's website, you'll notice Alkai automatically created a palette based on the colors from your website.
- A blue box will be bordered on the currently selected palette to make it easy to identify in this list.
- That palette is also represented above the list with the ability to Edit (pencil icon) or favorite (heart icon)
Edit a Color Palette
When you click the pencil icon for the currently selected palette, you'll be able to edit each of the 4 colors in that palette, and rotate which colors are most to least primary.
- Foreach color in your palatte, you can use the dynamic color picker to find the right color, just slide and move the two dots.
- Each palette has 4 colors to define, as you edit, click the small rectangular boxes to select which color in the palette you want to modify. The order of these boxes is most primary (top) to least (bottom).
- In the foreground, your post is dynamically updating to the changes you make, you can click this randomize button to change the sort order for your palette to preview how it impacts your post.
- If you know the specific 6-digit Hex value for the color you want to edit, you can enter a Hex value instead of using the dynamic color picker.
Once you are done edit, click the back arrow at the top of the tray to confirm your changes.
Add a Color Palette
To define your own color palette, click the Colors icon to reveal the tray, and select the option Add color palette.
- Choose a unique name for your palette.
- Each Palette has 4 colors to define.
- Click the small rectangular color boxes to modify each color in your palette.
- The order from top to bottom represents which color is most primary to most secondary for your palette.
- You can use the dynamic color-picker or enter the 6 digit Hex value for your colors.
- If you only want to define two colors, we recommend duplicating the two colors or making the final two black and white.
Black Hex: 000000
White Hex: FFFFFF
Once you finish defining your palette, click the back arrow in the tray. Your new palette will be applied to the post. By default, all added palettes are favorited.
Fonts
Alkai offers a selection of font sets so you can quickly find the right style for your post and brand. Each Font Set has two fonts, a Primary and a Secondary. Alkai has several out-of-the-box Font Sets to choose from.You also have the ability to create a new font set or modify the Alkai provided ones to get the exact style you're looking for. Edits and changes you make will be saved for future use.
Select a Font Set
Click the Fonts icon in the lower menu to reveal the Fonts tray.
- At the bottom of the tray will be a scrollable list (left to right) with several Font Sets to explore. There will be a blue box bordering the currently selected font.
- Above the scrollable list you'll see the Primary (top) and Secondary (bottom) fonts for the select Set. You have the option to edit (pencil icon) each of these fonts and favorite (heart icon) the Font Set. Favorited sets will appear first in the scrollable list to make it easy to find for future posts.
Edit a Font Set
Click the Pencil icon next to a Font to edit it.
- A list of available Fonts will appear for you to choose from, youc an filter by selecting a specific style.
- Upload font: If you have a custom font file on your device, you can upload and select that as the font you want to modify.
Add a Font Sets
You can define your own custom Fonts sets. Click the Add Font Set button, which will be the left most option in the scrollable Font Set list.
- After you click Add Font Sets, you will select or upload the Primary Font for your new Font Set.
- Once you've selected the Primary Font, click the back arrow to confirm your choice.
- You'll notice your new Font Set will automatically be given a secondary font, click the pencil icon next to the secondary font to edit this selection. *All Font Sets you add are automatically favorited.

Text
Review and fine-tune the messaging in your post. Just click the Text icon:
- Post texts: These are text elements that are overlaid or animated in the graphics of the post.
- Caption: This is the caption text that appears outside with the post on the social network you post to. Alkai will draft a caption with relevant hashtags for all your posts.
- All changes you make to text are saved automatically.
Remove Text In Your Post
If you want to remove a text entry from the post, simply delete the entire contents of Post text.
Media
Manage the images and videos in your post seamlessly.
Edit Media
Click the Media icon to open the Edit media screen.
- My Post Media has a thumbnail for each image or video in your post. The order the media is used in your post is sorted from left to right.
- Add Media Click this + button to add additional media from your Media Library
- Seasonal Shortcuts A quick and easy curated set of seasonal stock images you can explore and add to your post. Just click on one of the thumbnails to view each set.
Rearrange Media Order
Tap and hold on one of the media thumbnails and drag it to change the sort order of your media.
Replace or Delete Media
Click the Gear icon on a thumbnail to replace or delete it.
*Pro Tip: If your post only has one piece of media, you cannot delete it, you can only replace it.
Select Media To Add or Replace
After you click Add media or REPLACE, your Media Library will open. Alkai offers a lot of options for finding, sourcing, or even creating the right media for your posts.
- Upload Media: Add media on your device by clicking Upload Media. All uploaded media is automatically added to your Media Library.
- Add from another source: Click this button if you want to search and add stock media, use a text prompt to generate AI images, or have Alkai scrape media from the Web.
- Seasonal Shortcuts: View and use stock images and videos that have been specifically curated for Small Businesses.
- Select media from library: Use media that you've already upload or used in pervious posts, generated with AI, or has been previously scraped from your business's website.
Add From Another Source
When you click Add from another source, you can explore stock media, create images using AI, or scrap media from a webpage.
Free Stock images and videos Access a vast library of free stock images and videos via Pexels. * When searching, enter keywords and choose between photo or video media. | Generate with AI Create custom images with a text prompt and a specific image style. * Everything you generate is automatically added to your Media Library. | From web Type or paste a URL from your website or other webpage, and Alkai will scrap all the media on that page. *All media that Alkai sources from web pages are automatically added to your media library. |
Music
Give your post a soundtrack.
Add Music To Your Post
- Click the Music icon to explore curated royalty-free tracks.
- Select a track to Preview. Click APPLY to add the track and enhance your post.
Brand
Reinforce your identity with branded elements. Click the Brand icon in the menu.
Add Brand Card To Post
- Apply Branding: If the Post isn't using the Font Set or Color Palette you defined in your Brand Kit click APPLY if you want to update the fonts and colors in your post to be the same as your Brand Card.
- Add Brand Card to end of post: Toggle this ON to include your Brand Card from your Brand Kit at the end of your post. *Bran Cards are only available on video formats.
- Use post style in Brand Card: Toggle this ON to override the colors and fonts of your Brand Card to use the same Font Set and Color Palette that's in the post to give a consistent look-and-feel.
- Edit Brand Kit: Click this button to open your Brand Kit settings to preview and modify your Brand Card.

Finalizing Your Post
Once you’ve finished editing:
- Review your post to ensure everything looks and reads exactly how you want.
- Click SHARE to download, publish directly to your social accounts, or schedule to auto-publish at a later date.
